My Way or God's Way - New Year's Version

My Way or God’s Way                              by Angie Tobias

Which way are we going to follow this New Year?

You know God does not follow public opinion; in fact he is “public opinion resistant.” He does not change his mind just because an idea or way of living becomes prevalent and accepted by society. Just because something becomes common practice does not sway his opinion – prevalence does not equal acceptance.

He has a plan – his plan never changes. Even when we make poor choices regarding our lives, his plan continues on in spite of our interference. His plan prevails in every situation and is good and for his glory.

What must we do?

Follow his plan. God is sovereign, he loves deeply and seeks covenant with us. The bible tells us he goes about seeking hearts of man who want a relationship with him.

“For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to him” (Second Chronicles 16:9).

We must always remember that true relationship with God can only begin with our acceptance of his son Jesus Christ as our Savior. To have a relationship with God means that we must love the Lord, have faith, walk in his word and seek his guidance. Walking in his word requires trust and a true heart for finding God’s direction. His path is a path intended for his glory and our good. By walking in his word, we walk by his plan not our own.

How Wonderful!

Following God’s plan for our lives, gives us more than we could ever plan for ourselves:

“For I know the plans that I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you search for me with all of your heart. I will be found by you, declares the Lord, and I will restore your fortunes and will gather you from all the nations and from all the places where I have driven you, declares the Lord, and I will bring you back to the place from where I sent you into exile”

(Jeremiah 29:11-14).

Amen and Amen!

This New Year, let’s commit our self to a better relationship – one that trusts in the Lord and follows his plan for our lives!

Happy New Year!
